It's About The Supreme Court !

I’ll keep this short, because it’s really simple. You can argue all you want about Bernie vs Biden, or why someone who was your preferred candidate didn’t get the nomination, and you’re not a happy camper. But there is one thing you can’t argue about, and it is this: The next presidential election will determine the future of the Supreme Court. If you care about:

  • abortion rights
  • marriage equality, gay rights and transgender rights
  • dreamers and immigration
  • gun reform
  • religion in schools and government, and discrimination in the workplace (aka: Seperation of Church and State)
  • the environment, pollution, public lands
  • food safety
  • voting rights

and many, many other issues  – you must (as they say) Vote Blue No Matter Who.

Ask yourself if you’re willing to give up the court and other federal, state and local courts and let it all go to hell because you don’t like the guy at the top of the ticket?  Trump has already transformed the federal judiciary, but we can at least put the brakes on that.

The majority of Supreme Court justices are already very conservative. I sure hope Ruth Bader Ginsburg can make it through four more years, but let’s be honest, she’d  probably like to retire. She’s 87 as of this writing and has already battled cancer twice. It’s a 5 to 4 conservative majority now and most of those guys are young!  With a second Trump presidency it would be 6-3 or even 7-2. They will transform American into something we will hardly recognize. All those films, books and tv shows, like The Handmaid’s Tale won’t seem like fiction.

Please remember to talk about the Supreme Court to when you speak with family and friends who have doubts about Mr. Biden (or Mr. Sanders) and make sure they vote. Do you want to wake up the day after the election and think, ‘gee, I should have done more. Oh well, there goes our rights.'
